Carolyn Ann Barrett Schroeder

Carolyn A. Schroeder, 84, of Greensburg, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015, at the Waldron Health Center. Carolyn was born on July 26, 1931, in Decatur County, the daughter of Luther and Margaret (McConnell) Barrett. Carolyn was a 1949 graduate of Greensburg High School. On April 11, 1953, she married Carl Schroeder and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1999.

Carolyn worked as a bookkeeper at Ashley Machine in Greensburg for many years and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter Carla (Jeff) Strong of Michigantown, IN, her two sons Chris (Jill) Schroeder and Ted (Shawna) Schroeder both of Greensburg, seven grandchildren Courtney (Sarah) Schroeder, Marcus Schroeder, Stephanie (Justin) Schroeder, Kyley (Josh) Collins, Brandi Collins and Hannah, Andrew, Bailey and Madeline Schroeder, and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, her sister Marjorie Hurst and her brother Michael Barrett.

A Rosary Service will be held on Wednesday, August 5 at 3:30PM at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home followed by visitation from 4PM-8PM. Visitation will also be held on Thursday, August 6 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church from 10AM until the time of Carolyn’s Funeral Mass at 11AM. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of Decatur County or to the St. Mary’s Building Fund.
