Charles W. Tungate

Charles W. Tungate, 61 of Greensburg, passed away at the IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after a vehicle accident in Shelby County. Charles was born in Shelbyville, the son of Albert and Nannie (Wilkerson) Tungate. After High School, he joined the Marines and served four years.

Charles worked as a tree trimmer and enjoyed animals and riding motorcycles.

Survivors include his son Charles (Sophia Lynn) Green of Greenfield, IN; his grandson Kyle Hatcher; his fiancé Jewel Johnson of Greensburg, IN; five sisters – Wanell Mueller of Greensburg, Dorothy (Larry) Miller of Butlerville, IN, Dorene Elliot of North Vernon, Mary Jane (Mitchel) Smith of Greensburg and Charlene Melton of Vernon, IN; three brothers – William (Glenda) Tungate of Moores Hill, IN, Everett Tungate of Shirley, IN and David (Penny) Tungate of Westport, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Betty Amburgey and two brothers Granville and Marvin Tungate.

Funeral services will begin at 2PM on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home with visitation to follow from 3PM - 6PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Butlerville Mennonite Church. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.gilliland-howe.com.
