Obituary of Cleo G. Harford
Cleo G. Harford, 91, passed away on March 13, 2018 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Cleo was born February 28, 1927 at CAMP Slab, Greenbrier County, West Virginia, to Lester Bryan and Ada Ethel (Coldiron) Harford. He married Sally Ruth (Moore) in Clarksburg, Indiana on July 8, 1951 and she preceded him in death on December 27, 2011. Mr. Harford retired from the U.S. Army after 22 ½ years of service from July 1945 – December 1967. He served three tours of duty in Europe (1945-1948, 1954-1957, 1960-1964), one tour in Korea 1951-1952 and one tour in Vietnam 1965-1966. He retired December 1967 with the rank 1st Sgt E-8. He was employed at Ford Electronics Refrigeration Cooperation (FERCO) later changed to VISTEON in Connersville, Indiana retiring in 1989 after 22 ½ years, as a manufacturing production superintendent. He was a very active member of Clarksburg Christian Church, a member of the American Legion post #129, and a Life member VFW Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 2695. He is survived by two sons - Thomas (Rhonda) Harford of Tucson, Arizona and George (Cheryl) Harford of Greensburg, Indiana; two daughters - Mercia Ann (Olney) Hatton of Derby, Kansas and Paula Jean (Ahmad) Rahmanian of Carlsbad, California; eight grandchildren - Bryan (Rachel) Harford, Joshua Hatton, Hannah (Nick) Gilveli, Natasha (Scott) Ogden, Kevin (Sarah) Harford, Darius Rahmanian, Uriah (Donna) Coy and Ben (Sarah) Coy; ten great grandchildren - Maddison Harford, Nevaeh Gilveli, Konstance Gilveli, Harper Ogden, Wyatt Harford, Emily Coy, Lance Coy, Kayleigh Coy, Mackenzie Coy and Ellie Coy. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and four sisters. Visitation will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 4 pm – 8 pm. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 10 am also at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. Jerran Jackson. Burial will follow at the Clarksburg Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors conducted by the U.S Army and VFW.
