Dolores "Nicky" (Nicodemus) Wells

Dolores “Nicky” (Nicodemus) Wells, 92, of West Lafayette, passed away on March 17, 2019. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 24, 1926 the daughter of Ferdinand and Amelia (Flemion) Nicodemus. Nicky was a 1944 graduate of Southside High School in Fort Wayne. She was a 1947 graduate of IU School of Nursing. She was an Army Nurse Corps Veteran. Nicky married Oren "Bill" Wells and together they had four children: Stephen, Marilyn, Kenneth, and Catherine. Survivors include: Son- Stephen (JoAnn VonBergen) Wells; Daughters- Marilyn Padgett and Catherine (Mark) Alkire; Grandchildren- Erin (James) Britton, Jessica (Michael) Britton, Melissa Padgett, Julia (Brendan Whitehead) Wells, and Jennifer (Micah) Brown; 12 Great Grandchildren and one more on the way; Siblings- Donald (Pat) Nicodemus, Paul (Nancy) Nicodemus, Muriel (Peter) Jelinek, and Judith Schaefer; Sisters in Law- Shirley (Lester) Howard, Norma Wells, and Laura Nicodemus. She was preceded in death by: Parents; Husband; Son- Kenneth Wells; Sisters Carol Brock and Marcelyn Hinchman Keahey; and Brother- Charles Nicodemus. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 10:00 am at the St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father John Meyer will be officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery.
