Dorothy L. Lawrence Wolford

Dorothy L. Wolford, 88 of Greensburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Dorothy was born on February 10, 1928 in Decatur County, the daughter of Claud E. and Wilma (Griffin) Lawrence. She was a 1946 graduate of the New Point High School. On March 24 1950 she married Maurice Wolford at the New Point Christian Church and he survives.

Other survivors include her daughter Sandra (Bill) Pratt of Greensburg, her son Danny (Barbara) Wolford of Greensburg, four brothers – Gerald (Dorothy) Lawrence, James (Patty) Lawrence, Paul (Janet) Lawrence and Mervin (Rusty) Lawrence, one daughter-in-law Kim Wolford, eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons Tim and Ron Wolford.

Dorothy worked in the cafeteria, becoming manager, at the New Point Elementary School and North Decatur Elementary School for 12 years each. She was a member of the New Point Christian Church for 77 years and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a past member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed cooking, gardening and working with flowers.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at the New Point Christian Church from 4PM – 7PM. Dorothy’s funeral service will begin at 10:30AM on Friday, December 30 also at the New Point Christian Church with Rev. Mark Vice officiating.
