

Howard K. Watson, 80 of Greensburg, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Howard was born in Oneida, TN, on July 29, 1936, the son of Tollie and Nancy (Thomas) Watson. He graduated from Oneida High School and went to work for Asplundh Tree Service. While working, the tree service passed through Greensburg, where he met Reita Mozingo. While the rest of the crew continued on, Howard stayed in Greensburg and married Reita on June 8, 1957 and she survives.
Other survivors include his four daughters – Deborah Watson of Marina del Rey, CA, Gina Watson of Los Angeles, CA, Sue Ricke of Indianapolis, IN and Lisa Watson of Carmel, IN; two sons – Dr. John (Amy) Watson of Greensburg and Gabriel Watson of Los Angeles, CA; six grandchildren – Erica (Cody) Gault, Elizabeth Ricke, Kristen Scalf, Karsyn Watson, Isabella Watson and Jaxson Watson; four great grandchildren – Jada Gault, Camilla Gault, Isla Gault, and Carter Scalf; and two brothers – Otis Watson of Oneida, TN and Joseph Watson of Ft. Wayne, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings – James Elbert Watson, Alfred Watson, Milford Elcaney Watson, Martha Watson, Geneva Smith, Flora Choate, and Georgia Brown.
Howard owned Watson Tree Service for nearly 60 years.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 18, 2017 also at the funeral home with Rev. Cliff Bunch officiating. Burial will follow at the Union Baptist Cemetery.
