

Norma Smith Bruner, 85, of Greensburg, passed away at her home with her family by her side on June 15, 2014. She was born on August 23, 1928 in Decatur County; the daughter of George and Ida (Flint) Chadwell.
She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1946. She married Harold E. Smith on February 29, 1948 and he preceded her in death on August 22, 1984. She later married Rollin Bruner and he preceded her in death.
Norma worked in the Washington Township and Decatur County Assessor’s offices for 25 years. She enjoyed working as a foster grandparent at Greensburg Elementary for 8 years in kindergarten classrooms.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Greensburg. She enjoyed playing in card clubs with her friends and made quilts for her great-grandchildren. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her four sons, Edwin Smith of Indianapolis, Jeffrey (Kitty) Smith, Vincent (Mary) Smith both of Greensburg, and Steven (Michelle) Smith of Richmond; brothers, Leroy Chadwell of Kentucky and George (Betty) Chadwell of Sandusky; sister Lucille Donica of Shelbyville; 9 grandchildren, Vanessa (Doug) Westerfeld, Jill (Greg) Bedel, Keith Jones, Christie (Jude) Shell, David (Jennifer) Smith, Michael (Jennie) Smith, Amanda (Tom) Blanke, Stephanie (Chris) Cahill, and Max Smith; and 15 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister- Ann Hall.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland Howe Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. Rev. Danny Wolford will be officiating.
