Rachel Hannah Taylor Brown, 87, of Yuma, Arizona passed away on January 7, 2020 at Emerald Springs Retirement Home in Yuma. She was born May 30, 1932 in Greensburg, Indiana to Luther Albert Taylor and Emma Poling Taylor and grew up a farm outside Adams in Decatur County. After marriage she lived on a farm near Star Church until 1978.
In 1986 she moved to Yuma, Arizona. Hannah retired from Pueblo Elementary School in Yuma Arizona after teaching in Yuma County for 18 years. Prior to moving to Arizona, she taught in Saint Mary's Catholic School (Rushville, IN) and the Decatur County School District. She also taught English as a second language in Decatur County (IN) and Yuma County (AZ). She taught in elementary and junior high school at various times in her career, specializing in the development and improvement of reading skills.
She graduated from St. Paul High School and had a bachelor's and master's degrees from both Purdue University and Indiana University.
Surviving are her son, Richard Brown of Long Beach California and Rebecca Brown Bales of Pasadena California. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John Paul Taylor, her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Brown and husband, Robert Dale Brown.
Visitation for friends of Hannah and her family will be 1 pm to 3 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg. A graveside service for the family will be held at South Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.gilliland-howe.com.
