Obituary of Shirley Ann Hoke
Shirley Ann (Ricketts) Hoke, 87, of Greensburg passed away on June 26, 2018. Born on December 31,1930 in Orange, Indiana, Shirley was the daughter of Garrett and Louise (Sipe) Ricketts. Shirley was a 1948 graduate of New Salem High School, where she was active in the marching band and played several instruments. Additionally, she demonstrated her musical gifts from age 5 through high school by regularly playing accordion at various social events. Shirley married Emerson Allen Hoke on February 2, 1946 and together they had two children, Michael and Rebecca. Shirley made a career as secretary and accountant for various firms, most recently Cleo Smith Builders in Lebanon, Indiana, where she worked for 42 years and from which she retired in 2012. Having lived most of their life in Lebanon, Shirley and Allen relocated to Greensburg last year. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, where she was a past Worthy Matron. Shirley also was a member of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (NMLRA). As with music, Shirley excelled in target shooting, winning a number of championships in national competitions. Survivors include: Son Michael (Susie) Hoke of Greensburg; daughter Rebecca (Wil) Hoke-McCall of Bloomington; grandchildren Amy (Tracy) Vannatta, Jason (Ella) Hoke, Kate (VinceToderick) Snyder, and Erin (Joseph) Ribuffo; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
