Born on June 18, 1972, in Portland, Indiana, to George and Darlene Cattell, Tonya lived a life defined by love, strength, and unwavering devotion to those around her. She was the beloved wife of her late husband, Christopher John Kelly, and the heart and soul of her family.
Tonya’s greatest pride and joy was being a mother and Mimi. She is survived by her daughters, Audrey Kelly Chrisman (Lucas Chrisman), Emily Kelly (Trevor Hayslip), Melody Kelly, and her precious grandchild, Malcolm Chrisman. Her love for them was immeasurable—being their mom was not just a role, it was her purpose, her happiness, and the center of her world.
She is also survived by her parents, George and Darlene Cattell, and her siblings, Ken Cattell(Deb Cattell), Jason Cattell(Tombo Cattell), Lee Cattell(Maya Cattell), and Hope Schrader(Chris Shrader), and many nieces and nephews all of whom she loved deeply.
For 35 years, Tonya dedicated her life to nursing, pouring compassion, care, and strength into every patient she touched. Nursing wasn’t just her profession—it was a reflection of who she was: selfless, giving, and always putting others before herself.
Tonya found her greatest joy in the simple, beautiful moments of life—summer days spent at Kings Island with her daughters and grandson, evenings watching psychological thrillers, and time spent hosting and gathering the people she loved most. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome, cared for, and important. Her happiness was found in the smiles of others.
To know Tonya was to know a woman of incredible strength and heart. She was strong-willed, fiercely loving, and endlessly selfless. Even in the face of illness, she continued to fight with grace, courage, and a love that never wavered.
Though cancer took her from this world far too soon, it never took her spirit. She fought for three long years with everything she had, and that strength will forever be a part of the legacy she leaves behind.
Her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but her love will continue to live on—in the lives she touched, the family she built, and the countless memories that will be cherished forever.
In honor of Tonya, the family kindly asks those attending services to wear blue, her favorite color. Dark blue will be worn to represent colorectal cancer awareness and to stand in unity with her fight.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday May 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Brock Cemetery.
