Anne C. Foster

Anne Crews Foster, of The Cascades-Verdae, Greenville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 29th, 2025 at the age of 92. Born in Winston-Salem, NC on February 14th, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Allen James Crews, Jr. and Edna Lemons Crews.

Anne was the beloved wife of William Detalma Foster, with whom she shared a devoted marriage since November 29th, 1952. She was a loving mother to Karen Anne Foster and her spouse, Sue Steph of Reno, Nevada, and mother-in-law to Mike Francois (Regina) of St. Augustine, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill, and her daughter, Kathleen Foster Francois.

Anne was a cherished grandmother to Zachary William Foster-Steph, Griffin Foster Francois, and James Bryan Fulton. Anne is also survived by her dear sisters, Nancy Crews Eanes of Charlotte, NC and Charlotte Bodenheimer of High Point, NC.

A graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem, Anne pursued further education with an accounting course at Women’s College of UNC. She worked for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company while residing in Winston-Salem, and later had a fulfilling career in the accounting department of the School District of Greenville County, SC, retiring in 1995 after 24 years of service.

Anne was a dedicated member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved for many decades with the United Methodist Women and the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class. Anne and Bill were early members of Aldersgate, joining in 1962.

Anne developed a passion for golf, playing often at Carolina Golf at Botany Woods. She and Bill loved square dancing and were members of the Legionnaires Square Dance Club for over 40 years. Anne and Bill loved to travel, hosting many road trips with friends in Bill’s van. They loved spending time with friends and family, especially at the beach. Anne served the Cascades-Verdae community for many years as librarian of the onsite library.

Anne’s kindness, devotion, and love for her family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made in memory of Anne to Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

A memorial service for Anne will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 7 Shannon Dr, Greenville, SC 29615.
