Atul Desai

Atul Desai, age 70, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025 after bravely fighting numerous medical challenges, including cancer, with unwavering strength and dignity. Born with a gentle heart and a resilient spirit in India on October 20, 1955, Atul was known by everyone as a humble, kind, and gracious soul who dedicated his life to uplifting others. He came to Greenville, SC and stayed on a medical visa to study and work as a Respiratory Therapist for the next 32+ years at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Atul found joy in simple, meaningful things – reading, watching cricket, tennis, football, practicing his faith, and serving his community with sincerity and warmth. He was known for his fighting spirit, hospitality, liveliness, contagious laughter, and his passion for spreading optimism and cheer.

He is deeply missed by his beloved wife Rita, his daughter, Ushma, his son Pankil, and his grandchildren Nyra, Nihar, and Neev who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his brothers Nitin, Satin, and Girish and sister-in-laws Dipti and Axika, and all nephews and niece. Atul’s legacy of service, resilience, and boundless generosity lives on in all who knew him.

A celebration of Atul’s life will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at 9:45 AM - 11:00 AM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park at 1 Pine Knoll Drive Greenville SC 29605.
