Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Avery Justice Howard and Agnes Gilmer Howard; a brother Ben E. Howard Sr., 3 sisters, Bootie H. Raines, Syble H. Williams, and Ruby H. Stanley.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Avery graduated from Belton-Honea Path High School in 1968. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Chaplain's Assistant and Radio Maintenance Technician. After retiring from a career in Emergency Services with Redstone Arsenal, he volunteered with the Lace's Spring Fire Department as their Safety Officer and photographer. He was also a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lacey's Springs. Avery was an avid member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association where he was quite the entrepreneur for the organization and also their photographer.
There will be a Memorial Service conducted by Pastor Doug Jones on Saturday February 21, 2015 from 2-4pm at Happy Trails Cowboy Church, 9530 Augusta Road, Pelzer, SC 29669.
