She had a beautiful demeanor both inside and out, loved life and people, always saw the good in others and a positive disposition which resulted in an army of family, friends, and admirers who will truly miss this remarkable woman.
Born in Norfolk, Virginia she was the daughter of the late John and Inez Stanley. She has now joined those who Preceded her, including her husbands Michael D’Alessandro and Floyd Vissat, sister Dorothy, brother Richard(Dick), and stepson Fred Vissat.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters Lynn Knowles (Ed) and Diane Pierce, son John D’Alessandro (Michael), Stepchildren Floyd Jr. (Donna), Don (Kristen), Dan and Barbara White (Ronnie)
Grandchildren Dana (Matt), Laine (Eric), Michael (Allison), and Ryan.
Step grandchildren Kirk(Krista), Anne Marie (Seth), Brent ( Chelsey), Branden, Bryan, Alyssian, and Ashley.
Great grandchildren Jaiden, Cade, Liam, Molly and Hunter.
2 Step great granddaughters Myla and Isabella. A brother Joseph Stanley also survives her.
Betty was a member of the first graduating class of DePaul Hospital Nursing School in Norfolk, Virginia.
She traveled to Brooklyn, New York to further her education at Maimonides Medical Center in where she met and married Michael. They had three children together, Lynn, John and Diane and enjoyed 35 years together before Michael passed away. She continued her stellar career in nursing at Maimonides until her retirement.
Betty then moved to Sun City West, AZ where she met and married her second husband , Floyd. They shared 26 memorable years together. Betty’s love for performing led her to join traveling senior groups, The Western Aires and The Rythm Tappers which created many fond memories for both Betty and Floyd.
They later moved to Greenville, SC and resided at The Gardens Eastside where they were surrounded by a loving and caring extended family.
A Visitation with Betty's family will be held on Thursday May 3, 2018 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
A Funeral Mass for Betty will be held on Friday May 4, 2018 at 10:00am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1209 Brushy Creek Rd, Taylors, SC 29687.
