Charles "Bob" Robert Bayne

The Lord called home a beloved father, grandfather, and friend. Charles Robert Bayne of Greenville, SC, a legendary educator, and school administrator, Bob passed away peacefully Thursday, November 4, 2021 with his children by his side.

Born on September 21, 1944 in Greenville, South Carolina. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara Watts Bayne, and his parents Ray W Bayne and Polly Robertson. He attended Greenville County Schools and is a graduate of Appalachian State University.

He leaves a rich educational legacy serving over 50 years in local high schools. Mr. Bayne’s passion for education, and his quick wit with students established a rapport with them that lasted a lifetime. Every student who knows Mr. Bayne has their own story of how he impacted their lives in such a positive way. The teachers that worked with him were family to him. His untimely death leaves many friends and family members wondering who will keep them straight as Bob had a way of saying things that other people were thinking. Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and found great pleasure in golfing, spending time at his lake and beach homes, and pulling for the Clemson Tigers.

Bob is survived by his loving children, daughter Kelly Curry and husband, Andy and son Kevin Bayne and wife, Yola, all of Greenville; brother Woody Bayne and his wife Katherine of Greenville; brother James Michael and wife Cris of Lenoir, NC; beloved grandchildren Bayne and LeAnn Curry and 5 grand fur babies; a special nephew, Michael Self and wife, Sharon; and several nephews, nieces and their families.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00pm Tuesday, November 9, at Mackey Mortuary with Reverend James Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:45 pm at the mortuary. A private family inurnment will be at Springwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Principals Scholarship Riverside High School at 794 Hammett Bridge Road, Greer, SC 20650 or Greenville Technical College CDC at 506 South Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, SC 29606.
