He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Agnes Breazeale Houston, one brother, Benjamin E. Houston (Shirley), sons Jerry H. Houston (Sherri), Lloyd C. Houston (Sheryl) and daughter Ginger L. Young, two step-sons, Dick Lamar and Mike Lamar (Dinah), nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Born in Easley, SC, May 25, 1930, he was the son of Marshall and Annie Hinton Houston. Charlie was a graduate of Easley High School and an avid Clemson Tiger Fan! Charlie could play Tiger Rag like no one else and was quick to break into his rendition on the piano. He was preceded in death by brothers Curtis, Cecil, Joe, and Wendall, as well as two sisters, Alice Britt and Launa Batista.
Mr. Houston was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Taylors, SC. He was a former choir director at McCarter Presbyterian (Greenville) and Sunrise Presbyterian (Sullivan’s Island, SC). He was also a member of the Hejaz and Omar Temple Shrine.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at McCarter Presbyterian Church. Burial will be private.
