

Dean was born in Dayton, OH and lived there for 51 years. He graduated from Fairview High School, obtained his BS from Purdue University School of Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering and later received his MBA from Wright State University. He also served 8 years in the Navy Reserves and was a Cub Scout and Indian Guides leader. While in Ohio, he was a Butler Township Trustee for 20 years. For most of his working years he was a project engineer and plant manager. Later, he started his own Film Production and Event Videography business.
Dean was a faithful member of Shiloh Church in Dayton, OH where he was Chairman of Trustees, Chairman of Finance, President of Church Council, Volunteer for TV Ministry staff and received the Shiloh Church Service Award. He also volunteered for Rebuilding Dayton through Shiloh Church.
Dean and his wife, Sue Loomis, had an RV that they traveled in and wintered in Texas for 10 years. During that time they volunteered to build house decks and other home repairs. He had a good heart to help others.
In 2009 he retired to Greenville, SC. He then joined the Greenville Woodworkers Guild where he helped make wood toys for children and created many segmented wood bowls here and in Texas at the RV park, even teaching several classes for others to learn the process. He and Sue enjoyed traveling in the USA as well as Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. They also took many RV trips with various RV clubs of which they were members.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sue Loomis; a daughter, Debbie Loomis; a son, Jeff Loomis (Ruby); a sister, Ruth Hebble; and five grandchildren, Dylan, Gabi, Alex, Kyle and Jason.
A memorial service will be held on December 18, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church at 200 Buncombe Street, Greenville, SC 29601. The family will receive friends in the parlor immediately following the service.
