Deborah Jean Mason

Deborah “Debbie” Jean Freeman Mason, 66 passed away peacefully on May 24th , 2022. She was born on December 28, 1955 in Lincolnton, NC to Bob and Barbara Freeman. The family relocated to Greenville, SC when Debbie was in 5th grade.

She graduated from Wade Hampton High School in 1974 and Clemson University in 1978. She was a teacher for Greenville County Schools, primarily teaching 2nd and 3rd grade for 38 years before retiring in 2016. She was a member of Northside United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her family especially her two grandchildren and cheering on her Clemson Tigers!

Debbie is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Dan and their daughter Cammie Mason Vaughn (Ross) as well as two grandchildren, Mason Vaughn (9) and Mollie Vaughn (6). Debbie is also survived by her brother and sister.

The family would like to thank the countless doctors, nurses and staff of Prisma Health’s Greenville Memorial Hospital Critical Care ICU Team and Inpatient Hospice Team for the wonderful care Debbie received in the days leading up to her passing.

A visitation for Debbie will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. A committal service will occur Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
