Wow!  Almost a year later, I discover that Don has died.  We were band mates at WHHS and the band night rambles in that old Corvair with Jack Copeland are still fond and fresh memories.  Later on when I did AV at FU, I remet Do
n and enjoyed his humour and his expertise.  The world is a much lesser place without Don Boone!

I did not know Donnie during his professional life but much earllier. Donnie, Warren, Chuck and my brothers and I grew up together on Howell Road with the Dills, Turners and Maxwells and quite a few more.  We all graduated from the same high school.  Boy, the memories of the weekend football, baseball and basketball games in our backyard and playing pool in their basement are such great memories and I will have them always.  I do remember Warren breaking his leg during one football game and Chuck and Donnie pulling him home in a wagon. 

 I always knew Donnie would end up doing something in electronics as he was always experimenting with them.

Even though I have not seen Donnie in 40 years I still think about him often and will always have those great memories of my childhood.

But of all the tributes to Donnie the best is to know how much his daughter looked up to him and the great memories she has of him.

My sincere sympathy to the family during this time.

Since finding out my dad passed away, my adult life has disappeared and I feel 5 years old all over again. 

When I was little I would sing in the car with him. No matter how long the drive was or how many times I wanted to sing the exact same song, he always let me. He never asked me to be quiet. And in between songs he would explain things to me like poetic licensing, freedom of speech and the meaning of mile markers. 

My dad knew everything about everything. I knew that to be true when I was 5 and I know that to be true now at 28. 

He would read me the comics from the weekend paper while I sat in his lap. I learned how to play cards from him - Go Fish, then War, Hearts, poker and with guitar picks for the chips. 

We played Monopoly and I know he surely would let me win, but he was so sly about it that I never caught on. I would think, "My dad knows everything! So I – a 5 year old – must be the most amazing 5 year old ever because I can beat the smartest man on Earth!"

I didn’t recognize until much later that was the point - I was the amazing child of the smartest man on Earth and I could do anything.

I learned about ethics and morals over slices of bread being gobbled by ducks. It was always subtle like that. He never criticized me. He never gave me a speech. He would wait for me to ask. 

Or he would wait until he could slip a life lesson into a game of Monopoly.

He gave me the inspiration to want to know everything. And in that, he gave me everything I would ever need. 

My dad knew everything about everything because he was a great dad. And I will miss him as only the amazing child of the smartest man on Earth could miss her father.

Don was a friend for over 20 years. I learned so much from working with him. He was always willing to help others be it a sound problem or otherwise. I am thankful I got to know him

Don's passing came as a very sad shock to me and my wife, Joy. He was always quick with his wit and humor, and set me straight on so many things musical that I can't list them. He was the audio and music master. Don was a true gentleman and scholar. We already miss him a great deal, and will always remember him as a true friend.

DB as many of us fondly called him was a long time friend. He was a great guy and long time friend that will be missed.  Hears to you Don.

Don was always the GoTo man for any question or problem with your audio.
If you didn't know him, you knew of him.

Don was a good man....with a wacky sense of humor. We worked for the same AV company for the past decade, although in different city locations. He was very knowledgeable about the technical aspects of our industry & always willling to share his knowledge to help others. I offer my heartfelt prayer to his family that God may bring them comfort & peace during this difficult time. Don will be missed by all of us.

Don was one of the very first people I met when I moved to Greenville in 1973. Don and I have been friends and sometimes bandmates for 37 years. I will miss his friendship, his wit, his humor, and his sharp ear for good music. Goodbye my friend.  Mark
