

Edward (Eddie) James Cavanaugh, 91, of Taylors, SC, passed away peacefully at his home on November 11, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. His humor and zest for life will be deeply missed.
Eddie was born on July 25, 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland to Edwin and Ethel Pedesson Cavanaugh. He joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 and served his country proudly.
Eddie started the greatest chapter of his life on May 30, 1965 when he married Patsy (Pat) Love Cavanaugh. Together they raised their family in Edgewood, MD.
Eddie retired from General Motors after 31 years of service and was a member of the United Auto Workers. After retirement, Eddie and Pat relocated to Taylors, SC to be closer to family.
Eddie loved the Lord and was an active member of several churches during his life, including Edgewood Baptist Church in Edgewood, MD where he was a deacon. For the last 37 years, he was an active member of Taylors First Baptist Church where he and Pat enjoyed many years with their life group, and Eddie also served as a deacon.
Eddie brightened any room he entered, whether by sharing a funny story or doing a kind deed to make others feel more comfortable. His quiet thoughtfulness and keen sense of humor were a gift to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Pat, children: Jimmy Cavanaugh (Carrie), Jeff Cavanaugh (Carrie) and Jennifer Cavanaugh Stevenson (Don) and grandchildren: Elizabeth Scott, Riley Cavanaugh, Cason Cavanaugh, Cora Cavanaugh, Nolan Stevenson, and Carter Stevenson.
The family will celebrate Eddie’s life on Tuesday, November 25 at Taylors First Baptist Church Chapel, 200 W Main St. Taylors, SC 29687. Visitation will be held at 1pm, and funeral services will follow at 2pm.
