Reverend Edward Donald McKinney

He was the son of the late Frank H. and Ruth Donnald McKinney.

Reverend McKinney was a graduate of Wofford College and attended Duke Divinity School. Don was a Retired Minister of the United Methodist Church. He served numerous Methodist churches of the SC Conference before and during retirement. He was presently Pastor Emeritus of Simpsonville United Methodist Church. Don was a veteran of World War II serving in the 8th Air Force – 493 Bomb Group, 861st Squadron.

He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Abrams McKinney and two brothers, William C. McKinney and Frank H. McKinney, Jr.

Surviving are his son, Edward D. McKinney, Jr., and daughter-in-law Sherri of Rock Hill; son, Frank E. McKinney and daughter-in-law Ginny of Winnsboro; daughter, Donita M. Sims and son-in-law Kevin of Simpsonville; grandchildren, Dr. William McKinney (Dr. Elizabeth) of Atlanta, GA; Dr. Craig McKinney (Ashley) of Charlottesville, VA; Sally and Caroline Sims; great grandchildren, Hadley, Eila and Carrie McKinney.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff of Homestead Hospice and Always Best Care for their love and comfort during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 2:00pm at Simpsonville United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend Joel Jones and Dr. Gareth Scott. Committal services will be conducted at Graceland East Memorial Park Mausoleum by Reverend George Riser.

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1:00pm – 2:00pm at the church.
