Eugene H. Turner, Sr.

Eugene H. Turner, Sr., 87, passed away Wednesday, May 18th, 2016 at McCall Hospice House. He leaves his wife of 68 years, Martha (Cowsert) Turner; his son, Eugene H. Turner, Jr. (Karen); daughters Vickie Galvin, Kim Barber (Stuart), Kelly Murphy, Lisa Cope (Gene), and Linda Silvers (Trace); 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Turner was born and raised in Greenville. He was the son of Eugene H. Turner and Ola Marie (Howard) Turner. He graduated from Greenville High School and attended Presbyterian College. After leaving school he married his high school sweetheart, Martha Lillian Cowsert. They attended St. Paul United Methodist Church in their younger years where Howard sang in the choir. Later in life they became members at Lee Road United Methodist Church. Mr. Turner was a supervisor for Smith Dray Line located in Greenville, South Carolina.

Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his daughter Deborah (Debbie) Steele; two brothers Frank and Butch Turner and his parents Gene and Ola Turner. Mr. Turner's greatest joy was his love for God and his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, family beach trips and gospel music.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday May 21, 2016 at 11 am at Mackey Mortuary with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 am.
