She was born July 16, 1939 in Buffalo, NY to Frank and Vera Crawford, raised by Eugene & Vera Schwartz. Having grown up in Western NY, she graduated from Buffalo State College with a degree in elementary education, teaching elementary school for 30 years in Western NY, retiring from the Clarence School District. Following retirement Eva and her husband lived in many locations, Saratoga Springs, NY, Boulder, Co and Millersburg, KY. They enjoyed traveling across the states and antiquing along the way.
Predeceased by her husband, Herb, of 41 years and former husband John W. Parker Jr., of 16 years, she is survived by two children, Rhonda Meahl (Bruce), John W Parker III (Julie), six grandchildren Christopher Parker (Jessica), Kara Garey (Ryan), Jesse Parker (Martina), Jacob Parker (Alyssa), Caleb Meahl, Leah Meahl and five great grandchildren. Eva is also survived by her sister Leslie G. Weber (Michael) many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Eva was predeceased by her parents and her brother Anselm Schwartz.
Along with teaching Eva had a passion for art, music, animals, gardening and books. As an animal lover she spent many years breeding and showing Newfoundland dogs and has provided a loving home to many felines. Gordon, Glatty and YumYum, her resident felines, have been her constant companion in her final years, watching over her daily, providing great joy and comfort. While in Millersburg, KY, Eva enjoyed being part of the local Garden Club, holding the position of president for a season. Eva's passion for books manifested in her opening a book store later in life and keeping a personal library filled with books on every subject imaginable.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM at John Knox Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC where Eva was so graciously welcomed upon moving to the area. A teacher through in through she shared her love of art, music and books with many of the people who became her friend through attending John Knox. Truly a blessing. Special thanks to Agape Hospice for their care and support during Eva’s final year.
