Known for her loving and giving spirit, she was a tenacious advocate for abused children. Mrs. Hunt was the founder of the Greenville chapter of A Child’s Haven which has grown to be a well-established program in our county. Mrs. Hunt was an active leader in various community organizations from the early 1960’s for the majority of her life.
Born in Columbia, she graduated from Randolf Macon Women’s College going on to become a school teacher until she met and married the late Roy F. Hunt, Jr. of Greenville. She was a long time member of 4th Presbyterian Church, The Jr. League, Meals On Wheels, YWCA, and many other organizations.
Mrs. Hunt is survived by her son, Roy F. Hunt III, and her daughter, Marian H. Hunt. Her son, Wm. Tennent Powers Hunt, predeceased her. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Will Hunt, Marlee Hunt, and Kara Hunt, all of whom she was most proud. She will be tremendously missed by many.
Private funeral services will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Mackey Funerals & Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests to send memorials to A Child’s Haven, Meals On Wheels, and the Humane Society.
