Ed was born February 7, 1967, in Anniston, Alabama to Maxine Shadrick Hardin and the late Harry E. Hardin Jr. Ed graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BS degree in Psychology. He spent the majority of his career in inside sales for various building material companies.
Ed’s main loves were his family, USC football, cooking, music and spending time at Litchfield Beach. He was an avid football fan and loved his Carolina Gamecocks and he spent fall Saturday afternoons cheering on all of the teams he loved. He also played football at Eastside High School and his son played for Wade Hampton, so he followed the local high school teams on Friday night. He and his son Elliott shared their passion for football by discussing the players, stats and game highlights.
With the same passion he had for football, he had a love of music. He knew every bit of trivia related to the musicians in the bands, their music and their behind-the-scenes stories. Early in his career Ed worked in many different venues that featured local bands and eventually at the Thornblade Country Club where he developed a love of cooking and became a very good home chef.
He was a kind and gentle spirit who never met a stranger. This spirit helped him in his sales career, and he developed strong relationships with customers who many times would remain in contact him even after a job change.
He is survived by his son Elliott Hardin, his mother Maxine Hardin, his sisters Karen Stewart and Beth Clark, his brother-in-law Joel Clark and nephew Alex Clark and niece Abigail Clark. Ed is also survived by his former spouse, Joyce McCreary Hardin. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry E Hardin Jr. and his brother-n-law Sammy Stewart.
