

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Thomas Clayton and Maude Lee Batson.
Mr. Batson served in the United States Army, U.S. Coast Guard and Merchant Marines. He was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church. He was employed by Greenville Mechanical until his retirement. He enjoyed his retirement while selling at the White Horse Rd Flee Market as well as working with BINGO.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Peele & husband Maurice of Greenville, Luanne Gregory and husband Terry of Simpsonville; one son , Monty Batson and wife Sherri of Mauldin; seven grandchildren: Rann Brown, Lorie Lockaby, Robbie Brown, Angie Cooper, Rea Tinsley, Shannon Batson , and Clay Batson; Two step grandchildren; Jackie Martin and Allen Peele; Eleven Great Grandchildren; Charlie Brown, India Brown, Gavin Lockaby, Colton Lockaby, Candace Harris, Hunter Tinsley, Taylor Tinsley, Kayle Tinsley, Riley Brown, Ramsey Brown, Reagan Brown 8 step great Grandchildren; Barret Peele, Rachel Peele, Nehemiah Peele, Brandi Martin, Zachary Martin, Taylor Stewart, Grayson Davis, Jacob Davis. And one fifth Generation Great-Great grandchild, Noah Hutchison.
Mr. Batson was preceded by seven siblings; three brothers, James Batson, Ed Batson and Ray Batson; four sisters; Omilee Potts, Mildred Batson, Mary Ellen Batson and Shirley Batson.
Visitation will be held at 1:00pm thru 1:45pm on Friday April 3, 2015 at Rocky Creek Baptist Church, 1801 Woodruff Rd, Greenville. Funeral Service to follow at 2:00pm.
Burial will follow funeral and will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Dr., Greenville SC.
Papa Batson was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
