

Heyward McDaniel, 80, passed away February 6th peacefully at home. He was born in Chesnee, SC on December 30th 1943. Heyward was the youngest child of Oscar and Jeanette McDaniel. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Grant McDaniel, their daughter Holly McDaniel O'Connell (Keith) of Greenville, SC and 2 granddaughters Caroline Hampton Orr and Grantly McDaniel Orr. He is also survived by his older sister JoAnn Cantrell (Steve) of Fort Mill, SC.
Heyward was a 1966 graduate of Clemson University with a BA in in industrial management. After graduating from Clemson, he attended Officer Candidate School in Fort Knox, KY. He spent the next 2 years in Bamberg, Germany where he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant. Upon returning to South Carolina, he joined Milliken & Co in 1970 until 1987. Heyward then was with Woven Electronics in Greenville and was President and CEO until his retirement in 2004.
Among his many accomplishments, Heyward served as president of Greenville Country Club and a member of the Poinsett Club, and Smithfields Country Club.
Heyward was an avid golfer who played courses all over the US as well in other countries. If he wasn't playing golf, he was watching golf. He was known for his dry sense of humor; various one liners; love of breakfast and a good meat and three. Heyward was a very generous person and loved his family dearly.
A memorial service will be held at Mackey Funerals and Cremations 311 Century Drive, Greenville SC 29607 at 2:00 pm on February 13th. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
