Honey Lou Brewer

Mrs. Honey Lou (Zimmerman) Brewer passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. She was born on August 25, 1942 to Grace Elizabeth (Troutman) and Herbert Bernard Zimmerman in the small town of Seaman, OH. While attending Wilmington College, she met and married Jerry Joe Brewer in 1962. The two would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in July. After graduating from college, she began work in her lifelong passion of teaching all while working towards and receiving her Master’s degree from Xavier University.

Moving to Greer, SC in 1981 with Jerry and their 2 children, Danette Lynn and Jeffrey Todd, she taught in the public school system for over 30 years. She enjoyed staying active by playing tennis, reading and attending her children’s sporting events. As an active member of church, she served the Lord joyfully as a Stephen’s Minister. Above all else, Honey Lou cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren. After retirement, trips to the beach and visits with family were treasured by Honey Lou. People who genuinely knew Honey Lou thought of her as a very caring person who loved the Lord and placed Him, family, and friends before herself.

Honey Lou is survived by her husband Jerry Brewer of Greer, SC and children Danette Lynn Vaughan (Scott) of Cumming, GA and Jeffrey Todd Brewer (Sarah) of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving are her grandchildren Parker Jace Vaughan, Sydney Elizabeth Vaughan, Max Davis Brewer and Lucille Grace Brewer.

A viewing will be held 12:00-1:15 Saturday, March 5th with the funeral to follow at 1:30 at Covenant United Methodist Church 1310 Old Spartanburg Road Greer, SC 29650. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to P.E.O. International at peointernational.org.
