Irma J. Madison of Greenville, SC passed away on July 8, 2025. Irma was born in Wayne, Nebraska, to William and Abigail Back on June 13, 1926. After earning her Bachelor’s Degree at Wayne State University, she was working at the local hospital when she met her husband of 74 years, John. After their marriage, Irma followed John through his Air Force career and several places thereafter. Irma was a meticulous seamstress throughout her life, creating spectacular evening gowns and wedding dresses. She enjoyed traveling, reading and cooking.
Irma is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Kirsten; and son, Eric (Kathy). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rachael (Michael), Collin and Megan as well as several great-grandchildren. Irma was predeceased by her parents; sister, Arlos and brother Paul.
The family would like to thank the staff at NHC Mauldin where Irma spent the last ten years of her life. Thank you also to the special caregivers at Caris and Lutheran hospice.
A small family gathering will be held at the family home.
