James A. Arnau Jr., a lifelong Greenville, South Carolina native, passed away on April 11, 2026, at the age of 93. His was a life defined by dedication, love, and quiet passions. After graduating from Greenville High School and earning his degree from Georgia Tech, he served his country in the U.S. Army where he met the love of his life, Jane Muth Arnau. After returning home, James built his entire career at Milliken, where he gave his professional best for decades.
Above all, James was a devoted father to James Arnau III and Jennie Arnau, and a loving husband to the late Jane Muth Arnau. Those who knew him knew his joy came in simple, genuine things: the sound of good music, a round of golf, a beautiful car, and the unconditional companionship of his dog. He was Greenville through and through, and Greenville is quieter without him.
He is survived by his son, James Arnau III (Meredith), his daughter, Jennie Arnau (Tamara), his grandson, James Arnau IV; and his granddaughter, Kristine Gross.
James is predeceased by his parents James Arnau and Jean Gunter Arnau.
Services will be held at Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1002 S. Main Street, Greenville, SC 29601, where James will be inurned beside his wife on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 10:30am.
