James Frederik Den Outer

James Frederik den Outer, 53, of Simpsonville, SC passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 at his home. Born in Patterson, NJ, he grew up in Shohola, PA. He was the son of Jacobus “Dutch” den Outer and Charlotte den Outer. Jim attended Delaware Valley High School. He received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University. He worked at GE for 27 years and currently as a Chief Consulting Engineer in the Power and Gas Division. Jim enjoyed woodworking, outdoor activities, and sports. He was especially proud of his Villanova Wildcats. As an engineer, Jim was well-known for always being prepared. He volunteered for Hands on Greenville, Special Olympics, and several programs through GE including: GE Leadership Team, GE Fundraising, Women’s Network, Hispanic Forum, and United Way Campaign. In addition to his parents, Jim is survived by his loving wife, Theresa P. den Outer; a son, Matthew den Outer; 2 daughters, Elisa den Outer and Jill den Outer; a step-daughter, Kristen Moody; and 2 sisters, Annette den Outer and Susan den Outer. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at The Mackey Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held at 10am Thursday, August 31, 2017 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, GE Ramps Team, c/o Upstate Veterans Alliance, Brandon Hutson, CEO, 200 Isaqueena Dr., Greer, SC 29651-5672, or to a local charity Jim volunteered for. ~
