

Born on September 10, 1945 in Greenville, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Thelma and Luther Clay Elrod, Sr. Jamie was a graduate of Greenville High School class of 1963, Clemson University class of 1970, and a Lieutenant in the South Carolina Army National Guard. He worked at BellSouth for 30 years before retiring in 1996.
Jamie was a devoted Christian and of the Baptist faith. He had a love for antique cars, traveling, and taking photos. Jamie was a true jack of all trades and tinkerer; he could fix anything he set his mind to. Jamie was always looking for ways he could help the people around him. Above all else, he treasured his family and time spent with his loved ones.
In addition to his parents, Jamie was preceded in death by his older brother, Luke Elrod, his granddaughter, Shannon Burnett, and his brother-in-law, John Cotton.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Anne Elrod; his son Jim Elrod and daughter Bonnie (Michael) Davis; his siblings Candy Cochran (Neil), Mark Elrod (Jan), Debie Cotton, Evie Harrison (Randy), and David Elrod (Cristel); his sister-in-law, Linda Elrod; four grandchildren, Chris and Thomas Elrod, and Aiden and Caitlin Davis; as well as three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Jamie will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, with a service in the chapel at 2:00 PM. Committal will be held immediately following in the park.
