

James Michael “Mickey” Hancock was born in Greer, South Carolina on December 31, 1944. He went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2025 at the home of his ex-wife and friend, Brenda, and son, Michael. Michael was the caregiver for his father, mother, and sister. We want to thank Prisma Health Hospice of the Foothills Greenville Office for their wonderful care.
Mickey graduated from Parker High School and then worked at WYFF for 32 years as a news photographer. He had many close friends from the TV station, even today. He was a member of the Alano Club and worked there with many long- time friends.
Mickey was predeceased by his parents, James Alton Hancock and Evelyn Chandler Hancock, and brother, Kenneth Alton Hancock. He is survived by a son, James “Michael” Hancock, his ex-wife and friend, Brenda Hancock, a daughter, Kimberly “Kim” Ballard, a granddaughter, Madison Grace Ballard, who was his sunshine, and a special friend, Terry Hill, of Sumter, South Carolina.
Mickey’s service will be officiated by Pastor Curtis DuBose on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, 207 Mitchell Road, Greenville, SC 29615. The church will provide refreshments when the family receives friends after the service.
