Born in Tarrytown, New York on December 9, 1940, he was the son of the late James Joseph and Myrtle Williams Shannon.
He was vice president of a construction company and served in the US Marine Corps and was a "TRUE PATRIOT!"
Jim retired in 2007. He was happily enjoying life-cooking, golfing, gardening and living.
He is survived by his wife: Emily Ann Kirkpatrick Shannon, whom he married on July 4, 1995; five children: Jimmy, Denise, Kathleen, Sarah, and Ryan Shannon; six grandchildren: Zachary and Wesley Traylor, Brandon, Jordon, and Kaden Shannon, and Harrison Doedtman; three stepsons; a sister: Julie Sankey and a brother: Mickey Shannon.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home with visitation prior to the service from 1:00-3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ASPCA.
