James H. Turkett passed away at home on Monday, September 2, 2013. James was born in Wallaceville, SC on July 6, 1929. He graduated from Jenkinsville High School, Fairfield County, SC in 1947. He went to work for Van Lott in Columbia and later was transferred to Greenville with the same company and worked with them until he retired in the early 90's.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-five years, Ruth Wells Turkett whom he married in 1989 and his sister Olivia T. Chestnut of Columbia, South Carolina and his stepchildren Cyndee Patterson (Robert), Malinda Wells, and Christine Frayne (Timothy).
He was predeceased by his parents Will Turkett and Annie May Dukes Turkett; sisters Louvenia T. Potzner and May Ida T. Stevenson and his brothers George Turkett, Arthur C. Turkett and Warren B. Turkett.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 4, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. noon in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home located at 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends before the service from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m.
