Jane Matthews Peck

Jane was born February 23, 1932, on her parents’ fourth anniversary, in Concord, North Carolina. Jane made her debut in Raleigh in 1952 and after completing a year at Stratford College in Danville, Virginia, she married Nicholas Peck on August 29, 1953. After marrying, Jane moved to Chapel Hill while Nicholas completed his degree at the University of North Carolina; soon after, they moved to the Greenville area, where they resided for the rest of Jane’s life.

A dedicated homemaker, Jane remained invested in her community throughout her life. She was a member of the Greenville Junior Women’s Club, the Botany Woods Homeowner’s Association, the Red Hat Society, and the Greenville Bridge Club for over 45 years. Additionally she worked with the Lake Forest Elementary School PTA as well as Meals on Wheels.

Predeceased by her parents Ben Yestal Matthews and Catharon Goodson Matthews, Jane is survived by her husband of 64 years, Nicholas Peck, her two children Scott (Lezlie) and Catharon Peck, and her four grandchildren, Sara, Tyler, Matthew, and Nicholas.

A memorial service will be held at the Mountain Hill Community Church, 34 The Cliffs Parkway, Landrum, SC 29356 at 1 pm on Friday, October 27, 2017. Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jane can be made to Meals on Wheels of Greenville or to a charity of your choice.
