

Jencie was 95 years old and had lived a long life with many fond memories, laughs, tears and a determination to keep on going. Born April 16,1930 in Williamsburg, KY, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lela Brown, and was one of eleven siblings.
In addition to her parents, Jencie was preceded in death by her first husband William Z. Hobbs and her second husband Donald. E. Dankert, her brothers Charles, Willard, Herman, Wayne and Lonnie Brown and sisters Arlene Berlin and Jemaya Gambrell, a step-daughter Linda Hudson and her grandson Zachariah Zumsteg.
Surviving Jencie are her children and their spouses, Phillip and Faye Hobbs, Lawrenceville, GA; Russell and Julie Hobbs, Greenwood, SC; Tarecia and David Johnson, Clearwater, FL; Lisa Hobbs and life partner Nancy Shriver Clearwater, FL;as well as two step-sons Randy and Rick Dankert and a step-daughter Judy Potter. She is also survived by her brother Paul Brown and her sisters: Faye Lawson, Loretta Deubner and Patricia Mont, also her beloved grandchildren, Jason Hobbs, Jessica Cavegn, Nicole Carroll, Rebecca Hobbs and Lauren Turcotte and seven step-grandchildren. She has 6 great-grandchildren plus several step-great grandchildren.
Jencie was a strong woman who loved the Lord and was not timid telling her family and others about Him. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by her family but they know she is happy with her Lord.
A funeral service for Jencie will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609 The internment will be at Naples Memorial Gardens, Naples, FL. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Staff of NHC for her care.
