Born in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Louise Hopkins McKinley. Joan was an active member of Taylors First Baptist and the Tyler/Shaw life group.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years; Bill, daughter Janet (Sorensen) and husband Trig of Weddington, NC, son Tres and wife Casey of Fountain Inn. Joan, affectionately referred to as Grandmamma is the proud grandmother of five grandchildren - Connor, Hannah, and Christopher Sorensen, McKinley, and Crayton Bagwell. Her brother Carl Ray, sisters Juanita Richardson, and Judy Clark also survive her. Two brothers, John and Don McKinley and one sister, Peggy Hopkins, preceded her in death.
Joan’s love and kindness will live on forever in those fortunate enough to have known her. Her life was deeply centered in her faith, love of family, and friendships.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Taylors First Baptist, 200 W. Main Street Taylors, SC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice, or McCall Hospice house of Greenville. The family wishes to thank McCall Hospice and their staff for all the dedication and loving care they gave Joan.
