Johnny (John) M. Forrester, 72, passed away July 7, 2015 after a courageous four year battle with cancer.
He was the son of the late Herbert and Mary Whitt Forrester.
John retired from Union Carbide/Kemet Electronics. He was a member of Roper Mountain Baptist Church for more than 30 years, serving as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, Training Union Director and choir member. He was a volunteer throughout the US and abroad with the SC Baptist Disaster Relief Team for over 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, daughter Robin, son Joel (Stacy), stepdaughter Michelle, two granddaughters and a grandson. He was predeceased by his first wife, high school sweetheart and mother of his children, Gwen Phillips Forrester.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Roper Mountain Baptist Church, 300 Roper Mtn. Road Ext, Greenville, SC.
Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M., prior to the service.
