I just learnt about this sad news, and wanted to share my heartfelt condolences with Mark's family; such a bright soul...who now shines like a bright star.
I started working with Mark on research projects last year and always hung up the phone with a smile as he was a joy to work with.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Mark's passing. Mark (known as MB) was one of my colleague at Ahlstrom for many years. 
His sense of humor, his care for others and enthusiasm have been very much appreciated and touched me. This is what I would like to remember thinking of MB!

Please accept my deepest condolences on Marks passing.  I met Mark when he joined Ahlstrom. Mark was one the nicest, kindest, most amazing person I have ever met. He was a true professional and a true gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

My deepest sympathy to the Berman family on such a great loss.  I have worked with Mark for many years in both Dexter as well as now in Ahlstrom.  Mark and I work together on many project as well as training programs - too many to mention.  He was truly intellectual and always a gentleman with an infectious laugh.  We talked regularly right up to the end always regarding how he was doing and then more in depth about our family and particularly what our boys were up to as they were the same age. I will miss his greatly as I know you all will daily.  My daily thoughts and prayers will be toward all of you to build strength in moving forward as Mark would want for all of us.  God bless.

I am so terribly sorry to hear of your huge loss. As a close friend of Linda's since childhood, I've known Mark since I was about four, and although I haven't seen him in recent years, I remember him as a kind, fun-loving, generous-spirited person  one of the good guys, who was always beyond tolerant of our young and sometimes/often annoying selves (aka Monkey and Stick Insect to him). I can't believe such a strong, vibrant person is no longer with us and can't imagine how you must be feeling. Sending love and deepest condolences to the whole family from both myself and my husband, Glenn.

Father, husband, brother, friend, South African, inventor, colleague, athlete, adventurer & witness. This remarkable oke elevated those who were fortunate enough to have met and spent time with him. His intelligence, sensitivity and optimism conspired to tweeze humor out of daily chaos. How many of us were drawn to that flame?

His self-effacing artful approach to life is an inspiration.

Allison, Matthew, Richard, and family. I can't even imagine what you are going through. Although we lost touch when our kids left Blythe Academy, I often think of you. I remember your true adoration for Mark and your marriage. Please know I send you my love, hugs, and many prayers.

Please accept my deepest condolences for Marks passing. I met Mark many year ago, before he joined Ahlstrom and he always impressed me as a good person. We travel to France a few years ago and I had the opportunity to meet him on a more personal level. He spoke highly of his love for his family. I spoke with him a few times during his treatment and he was always optimistic that he could defeat this insidious disease. Mark will be missed.

Allison and family you have our deepest sympathy over Mark's untimely passing.  As a former Fiberweb colleague of Mark, I can say unequivocally that he was one of the finest persons I have ever met.  His warmth, sincerity and intellect positively impacted everyone around him.  May he rest in peace.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. It was an honor and a privilege to know Mark. He was smart, funny, and kind, an all too rare combination these days. He was awesome to work with and I always enjoyed our runs together.

Mark always impressed me as such a self-effacing young man from the first time I met him at a business meeting.  But my memories of him were of an easy going young man with a friendly smile and infectious sense of humor.  As one of the older runners I always encountered him passing me running in some of the Corporate Shield races and he seemed to love those running competitions.        

But the lasting impression he left me with over 25 years ago was that of a man who loved his kids.  We worked in different departments but my one indelible memory was when I worked with him on the trade show around 1990 when he had been tasked with one of those last minute emergencies where management required him preparing samples of a new concept fabric product that was to be introduced at a trade show exhibit that we both worked on.  We had a deadline to ship materials that had to go out that very day.  During our task he received an urgent call to pick up his young son who had fallen on his head and taken a hard knock on his head.  The boy was checked out medically, but needed to be kept awake an observed the rest of the day.  Mark brought his son to work as it took us a couple of hours to complete this last minute task.  I was so impressed by the way Mark handled the pressure of the job and the little boy's need for attention in dealing with a post trauma headache.   Being 20+ years Marks senior I was so impressed by the way this young father exhibited attention and affection to his son.  Mark multi-tasked preparing fabric samples while continuing to monitor the boy, plying him with juice and cookies, and engaging in a 2 hour dialog about the boy's cowboy hero Tom Mix.  Whenever I encountered Mark at company picnics or around town it was evident that this fellow really was proud of his children.

My wife Helen and I offer our heart-felt condolences to all the members of Mark's family for their loss and hope the memories of this fine gentleman will in time heal their pain.

I enjoyed working with Mark I was a true professional with such charisma. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

I knew Mark from my time spent at Fiberweb/BBA.  He will be missed as he was inspirational to anyone he came in contact with.
