Mary Catherine "Katie" Bate

Born August 26, 1949 in Rochester, New York, she was the daughter of Harvey Hull and Violet (Delano) Hull. After marrying her husband Mick, Katie spent most of her life in the Upstate SC area. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Office Administration from Bob Jones University in 1998, when she completed her college education alongside one of her three children.

Katie had a beautiful servant’s heart that benefited not only her husband and children, but also those that worked with her in various Christian ministry roles over the years. She served her Lord Jesus Christ and those around her with joy, welcoming many into her home with her sweet, hospitable spirit. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, sing, play card and board games, travel, and make delicious meals for her family and friends.

She is survived by Michael "Mick" Bate, her devoted husband of 52 years; her three children, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Bate of Anderson, SC, Julie (Lance) Ficek of Savannah, GA, Joanna (Matt) Bronkema of Pendleton, SC; a sister, Judith Campbell of Rochester, NY; ten grandchildren and many lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Larry and Harmon Hull.

A visitation for Katie will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM and then again from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at Morningside Baptist Church, 1115 Pelham Rd, Greenville, SC 29615, followed by a funeral at 2:00 PM in the chapel at Morningside Baptist Church.
