Patrick Paul Doney went home to be with the Lord on November 18, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in San Pedro, California, Patrick spent most of his life in California, where his journey of faith, service, and devotion to others was deeply rooted.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Analee Hudson Doney; his parents, Hilda Pauline and Calvin Scott Doney, Sr.; and his brother, Calvin “Scott” Doney, Jr.
He is survived by his children: Thomas (Jane), Cynthia, Nathan, and John (Joey) Doney; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pat’s life was a reflection of his unwavering love for the Lord. He dedicated decades of his life to Christian school education and Pastoral ministry and also served for 20 years as a Chaplain in the United States Navy, earning the rank of Lieutenant Commander. After his military service, he spent 10 years teaching victim advocacy courses at the Fred C. Nellis School for juvenile offenders.
In 2001, Pat and Analee moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where he continued his ministry with the Associated Gospel Churches (AGC), traveling nationwide as the national field representative to encourage young Christian men to consider the ministry calling for military chaplaincy.
He was a cherished friend to many, including those he met as a young student at Bob Jones Academy and Bob Jones University—where he also met Analee and they began their life together.
Pat loved preaching and knew the Bible intimately. Even in his final days, he was able to recite long passages he had studied over the years. His favorite verse was John 3:17: “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.”
In his youth, he attended both Lutheran and Brethren churches, but for the remainder of his life he identified with the Baptist tradition. Most of all, Pat considered himself a born-again Christian whose faith and trust were identified with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Patrick’s legacy will live on in the lives he touched through his faith, friendship, and steadfast commitment to Christian service.
