Richard Leonard Crain Sr., 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 18, 2021. He was the president and owner of Crain Real Estate Inc. He was also a member of the Greenville Civitan Club, having served as president, state district representative and director. Among the agencies he was affiliated with are the Greenville Association for the Mentally Retarded and Special Needs, Crossroads Home, Safe Harbor, and the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Council. In 1991, the Lutheran Church named the Crain House for Emotional and Abused Boys in his honor. He was also awarded the State Order of the Palmetto for his many years of community work, especially on behalf of women and children.
He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine, and two sons, Larry Crain and Rick Crain (Lynn).
A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Edwards Road Baptist Church, 1050 Edwards Rd, Greenville, SC 29615, with Pastor Aaron Rayburn officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Dr., Greenville, SC 29609.
