

Rich proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Army. While in the army he was stationed in Vietnam for a year and received the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces.
Rich was a lifelong resident of northeast Ohio settling in Cortland before moving to South Carolina. He married his wife Shirley in 1966 and together they raised three wonderful sons.
Rich loved all sports. When living in Ohio nothing made him happier than a good day on Lake Erie catching walleye. He also enjoyed hunting, watching track and field on tv and playing golf. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and never failed to watch a game.
After retiring to South Carolina Rich began working at Willow Creek Golf Course where he met and maintained some of his most cherished friendships.
Rich was preceded in death by his oldest son Richard Jr. and his parents Jennie and Calvin Moy. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Simpsonville, SC, sons Michael of Bonita Springs, FL and Christopher (Laurie) grandchildren Mason, Mac and Morgan of Shepherdstown, WV., and brother Gerald of Brookfield, OH.
A gathering and remembrance of his life will be held at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Dr., Greenville, SC 29609 on Wednesday June 4 at 2 p.m. with a memorial service and military honors at 3 p.m.
