Rita was the daughter of John William Rickman and Lona Theodore Freeman (Kolb). She is survived by her children Angelo Russo Jr., Anthony Russo, Susan Jones, and her daughter-in-law Amy. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Abby and Micah. Rita was preceded in death by her infant son, John Joseph Russo.
Rita now goes to meet an entourage of dear feline companions: Holly, Pepper, Casper, Bonnie, Tommy, and Possum. She leaves behind Chloe, Molly, and Fred who were an incredible source of happiness for her.
Rita will be fondly remembered for her love of Cracker Barrel, British television, her vibrant green thumb, and her delicious spaghetti. We will think of her when we pierce our ears, enjoy a good meal, are moved by music, give generous scooties, and stand up for ourselves with the grit and honesty she passed on to us.
It is her wish that we move into our futures without grief or regrets for her. By embodying her strength and determination, we can live beautiful lives of which she would be proud. We will always be thankful that she has been able to attain the peace and comfort that she at times found herself without in this life.
At Rita's request, the family asks that any offerings in her memory be made towards Habitat for Humanity at https://www.habitat.org/.
A memorial service in Rita's honor will be held at 10am on Friday, November 28th at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park at 1 Pine Knoll Drive Greenville SC 29609.
