Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Robert Lee Powers and Myrtice Ernestine Hambrick Powers. Mr. Powers was retired from Ryan’s Family Steakhouse where he served as the corporate pilot and Director of real estate. He was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran. Mr. Powers was an active Shriner and a pilot for the Flying Nobles. He formerly served as Commissioner of the Greenville Downtown Airport Commission.
Mr. Powers is survived by three children, Richard Powers (Mary), Lee M. Powers, and Debra Powers; two grandchildren, Phillip Powers and Mary Catherine Leonard; six sisters, Thelma Butler, Ruth Hilton, Martha Powers, Mary Gravley, Becky Melton, and Bobbi Beck; and a brother, Carol Powers. He was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Clark and Ellen Trotter; and two brothers, Frank Powers and Alonzo Powers.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Mackey Funerals & Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park prior to the service.
