With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roy Russell Ray Jr., age 76, on May 9, 2025, in Taylors, SC. Born on January 20, 1949, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Roy lived a full and vibrant life devoted to faith, family, and community.
A man of integrity and unwavering dedication, Roy retired from Southern Bell after 26 years of service before becoming the owner and president of Greenville Stage Equipment. He was a proud member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Roy had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures. Whether riding his Harley-Davidson, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains, or exploring the country in his RV with his beloved wife Patricia and their two cherished chihuahuas. Roy embraced every moment.
He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Ann Ray; his children, Russell Christopher Ray (Christal); grandchildren, Christopher Ray, Joshua Ray (Brooke), Braeden Ray, Milo
Jackson, and Alex Jackson; great-grandchildren, David Ray and Hayden Ray; and siblings, Barbara Brown (Bob), Sandra Millwood (Frank), Rebecca Spangenburg, Daniel Ray (Judy), and Michael Ray (Carolyn).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Russell Ray Sr. and Loretta Roberts Ray, and his daughter, Dawn Ray Jackson.
A visitation for Roy will be held Monday, May 19, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. A Celebration of Roy’s Life will be on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Dr. Greenville, SC 29609
