Born on August 29, 1931, Ruby was the beloved daughter of Lottie Hall Good and Reverend Odell Good. She lived a long and beautiful life marked by deep faith, unwavering love for her family, and a heart devoted to serving others.
Ruby was a faithful member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church, where she lived out her commitment to Christ with grace and humility. She led by quiet example, embodying the values of a true servant of the Lord every day of her life. Her faith was her foundation, and it shone through in the way she loved and cared for others.
She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Colvin Vaughn, with whom she shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a home rooted in faith, family, and love. Ruby was a loving mother to her children: Colvin Eugene Vaughn (Denise), Janice Vaughn Mauldin (Jackie), and Sharon Vaughn Ayers (Greg). She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Vaughn.
Ruby was also preceded in death by her siblings Lois Saxon, Shirley Saxon, Mary Lou Lollis, and her brother Furman “Son” Good. She is survived by her loving siblings Linda Peahuff, Billie Watson, and Fred Good, who will cherish her memory always.
Known affectionately as “Meme,” Ruby found her greatest joy in her family. She was a proud and precious grandmother to Jennifer Trammell Leonard, Ryan Trammell, Natalie Trammell Clayton, Lauren Vaughn, Chad Ayers, Blake Ayers, Brent Ayers, and Chandler Ayers. She also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren who will carry her memory and legacy forward.
Ruby had a passion for the simple, meaningful joys of life. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Her family will deeply miss her one-of-a-kind sweet tea and homemade biscuits.
More than anything, Ruby was a servant of the Lord. She lived her faith daily, not with loud declarations, but through quiet strength, kindness, and generosity. Her life was a testimony to God’s love, and she was an example of grace and goodness to everyone who knew her.
She will be dearly missed by all, but especially by the family who loved her most. Though she has gone on to her eternal home, the impact of her life will be felt for generations to come.
A visitation for Ruby will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609, with a funeral service at 2:00 pm in the chapel. Committal will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
