Ruth Schucker

Born on July 14, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Viola Walinske. Ruth married her husband Richard "Dick" Schucker on December 28, 1961, and eventually the pair would move to Greenville, South Carolina, where they became faithful members of Messiah Lutheran Church.

Ruth had a big heart, with a particular fondness for dogs and cats. She devoted much of her time to her love of quiltmaking for Quilts of Valor, and sewing baby blankets which she donated to local hospitals. She was also a member of the Silver Threads Guild. She and her husband Dick were talented photographers, and even owned their own photography store called "Schucker Photo Supply" while living in Kansas City, Missouri. Ruth and Dick were huge Kansas City Chiefs fans and never missed a game.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband. She is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as dear friends who will cherish her memory always.

Services for Ruth will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1100 Log Shoals Rd, Mauldin, SC 29662. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, with a service to follow at 2:00 PM. Ruth will be laid to rest next to Dick in Greenville Memorial Gardens, 7784 Augusta Rd, Piedmont, SC 29673.
