It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Sheila Batson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who passed away on December 29, 2025, at the age of 76. Sheila was known to all as someone who truly loved life, always happy, full of energy, and a joy to be around.
Sheila was born on September 29, 1949, in Greenville, South Carolina, to Mary Francis Cooper and William Fred Cooper, both predeceased. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald “Ronnie” Batson, and her sister, Judy Arrowwood.
Sheila is survived by her daughter, Stacey Barton; her son-in-law, Chris Barton; and her cherished granddaughter, Madie Barton, who lovingly called her “Nanny.” She is also survived by her brother, Tommy Cooper. One of Sheila’s greatest joys was spending time with Madie and embracing her role as Nanny, a title she wore with pride and love.
Sheila shared a special bond with Ronnie, and together they enjoyed many years of square dancing. She was also a proud member of the Red Hatters and found joy in friendship and fellowship. Faith and community were deeply important to Sheila, and she was a devoted member of Brookwood Church, where she loved welcoming others with her warm smile and kind spirit.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Dr., Greenville, SC 29609.
